I use to put a little dish soap in mine when I was a kid. Bass seemed to like Dawn haha

Used WD40 over 30 years ago and it was a panfish catching machine...formula changed and it didn't work after.

I heard a story many years ago about some pro's that were using WD40 for their soft plastics mainly because it made the plastic slicker and would move through vegetation and wood a lot easier. Never used WD40 but have always used Smelly Jelly mainly for that reason.

I have sprayed it on some of my hooks before but never on any baits.
