Have a DL Whitehead custom travel fly rod unused, still has shrink wrap on the cork handle. Comes with a new leather carry case as well as the metal canister. Recently purchased but have not fly fished much. It's a beautiful made cane fly rod. Anyone used a Whitehead rod before (love it or hate it)? should I keep or sell it?

What weight rod and what do you wish for? That would help.

It's a 5 weight rod 7' 9". Not much trout here in Texas so was thinking of having it ready for surface boils of stripers or hybrids. If these are too big, just have fun with sand bass runs in the spring. Paid $900 for it. I know these can go for over $2,000.
