Here is the gofundme set up by his sister in law. It was said that he is self-employed and that's going to be a tough row to hoe for sure.

Great question. Don't see how it could hurt and will be the norm for me from now on.

Seems like you could make one for 20-30 bucks.

Cable ? Or Nylon Rope ?

Was thinking that too, found a place that will make up 1.5 inch nylon rope tether but would be much more than $20-$30 when done.

I had been thinking about something like this for a while with the way I drive my boat.

In looking at the photo he has a standard manual jack plate all the way down so that stump got a good 12-14 inches of lower unit hanging below the pad. The last bad thing I hit was a wing damn but was jacked up to top of Atlas so just ripped off the bottom of the LU.

Not at all uncommon for guys here to spend $300 on a rod and reel...... but here yall are - trying to shortcut a safety item "on the cheap"......smh.

Yup- I’d like to think the leash went thru some sort of product testing, build your own and you get to be the tester…..

I ordered me one. I fish Fork,RC, and make the run to Kickapoo on Palestine. Been putting it off for couple years. That picture and the go fund me page gave me a reality slap.
Will be a good investment for me and my partner.

He needs prayers. Talked to a friend in Tenn. It happened on Old Hickory. The man has a broken back and severed arm.

My wife ordered me one Monday, right after the picture surfaced. We got this email this morning

“Due to the AVALANCHE of orders recently, your product has been back ordered two weeks”. That was direct from Precision Sonar.

Looks like a few people had an eye opener.

Did this happen on older high horse outboards? I know it’s a fine line but I wonder if the lower unit bolts should be designed to shear off easier.
