I saw this YAMAHA add and snapped a pic. I hear SHOs like to run high. Does that high look reasonable?

Depends on boat/motor/prop combination. Typical lead sled bass boat that hits low 70's on a good day likes the prop shaft about 3.5" below the pad. Hight performance hulls set up for speed such as Allisons and Bullets can have the prop shaft even or above the pad.

It looks like the water intake is just getting a lot of spray and not in the water. I'm asking about the motor getting enough pressure not the boat set up for speed. I'm getting 18 psi on my SHO at 6100.

You can’t tell by a picture of the boat in the water. cheers

Ya need to know the boat, prop, prop to pad distance, setback, etc.

Looks like it has a hydraulic jackplate…so it might be right who knows.

As long as water is shooting up the tip of the case it will get plenty of water. Also 18psi is pretty good, I think normal pressure is 11-15 or so. It uses a high volume / low pressure pump so dont expect mid 20-30's like some other brands.

These guys are right. You cannot tell the correct height to run your motor by looking at a pic. You have to gauge where the center of the propshaft is in relation to the bottom of the pad on the boat.

Like Tim said, "Typical lead sled bass boat that hits low 70's on a good day likes the prop shaft about 3.5" below the pad. Hight performance hulls set up for speed such as Allisons and Bullets can have the prop shaft even or above the pad"

Unless you have a Bullet, Ally or Stroker this is true.

My BCB Erya had a SHO on it and an Atlas plate, WFO with a slight chop it liked to run 16-18 on the Atlas gauge. Moderate load and solo it was an 82-84mph boat .
