I was curious after a couple years of JB with the price of everything going up have the entries declined by a noticeable level?

I don’t fish tournaments because I suck but was curious how the numbers were holding up.

This year BassChamps East has averaged 170 teams in the first two tournaments.

In 2018 (Pre-Covid but DT's beginning of his second year) BassChamps East averaged 274 teams in its first two tournaments.

In 2019 BassChamps East averaged 234 teams in its first two tournaments.

I would say that inflation and gas prices have had an effect on the numbers.

Pretty much every tournament director I have talked to said tournament numbers were down last year. What I found interesting was the fact that the trails that make Rayburn & Toledo the majority of their yearly tournaments, seem to be down more (percentage wise) than the DFW/ North East Texas trails. I looked at these numbers pretty in depth a while back at the request of a friend in the business of running tournaments. I don't have the stats in front of me, but percentage wise the Rayburn and Toledo tournaments were down way more than the DFW trails. Not sure on the reason for this. We looked at the average number of entries per tournament over the last 4 years. I'm not going to name names but we looked at what we considered the 4 biggest team tournament trails in the state. The numbers have actually been going down for a while now. I think that inflation, economy, whatever economic metric you choose, has most certainly played a role. However, I think there is more to the story than just the economy.

Numbers are down. The "donators" are not as eager to go pay the entry and pay for the gas. It is more of an investment than previously. It has ebbs and flows to it though. You will see when times are good people that are going fishing and if they are fishing this lake anyways, might as well enter and see what happens. Now they stay closer to their home and not as free with their money.

just look at the prize structure of most tournaments, fewer boats, smaller cash amounts etc.

all that tells me entries are down, let's see what the big bass on fork draws this yr. I bet it is down again.

I'm not fishing as many tournaments as usual this year, I'm typically a "donator" but every now and then finish in the money.
With the uncertainty about the economy and two kids in college, I've cut my spending on tournaments and fishing stuff. It seems like the numbers are down this year for the tournaments I usually fish.

Bad payouts and people probably tired of mystery championship. As of now it looks like the tto might be best payout and have lot of contingency’s to I have never fished with them but might have give them look
