This past week 1/24-27 I had my brother and nephew down from Wisconsin and Canada. We have been waiting for this trip to happen as Covid restrictions and other health related issues have delayed it but finally all the stars aligned to make this a trip for the memory books! We started off on Tuesday and braved the cold and rain that day from 10am til noon. Did Ok and caught close to 20 white bass and hybrids.Decided to head in for a bit and after warming up and drying out we headed back out from 3pm til dark. We caught some really nice sized Hybrids up to 24 inches and several white bass close to 2 lbs. On Wednesday we were out from 9am-4pm and again the fishing was great and teh bite was much better. We ran into some really nice sized fish with 3 of them being 24 inches. Severa others were in the 17-20 inch range. Again also alot of nice Magnum sized White Bass. Thursday we headed to Lake Tawakoni and fished from 10-4pm. Launched out of the State Park and what a beautiful sight. Up to 50 Whitetails just roaming the Boat ramp! Great way to start the day! This was my first trip to this lake but have received some great tips from others which really helped us on this trip. We got into the Hybrids around 12pm and were running the drift through the mid lake river channel bends drifting into the Dam. What a great fishery and can't wait to get back! Caught fish up to 23 inches but most of them were in the 18-20 inch range. We ended the week again on Cedar Creek and the same pattern continued. Tjhe Hybrid bite was on. There was a period of time from 11-2pm that all we were catching was Hybrids. We had to have caught at least 30 if not 40 hybrids. Several were in the 18-22 inch range with a couple in the 24 inch range. We lost one that just screamed the drag and broke the hook! Overall a great week of fishing with Family and friends and memories that will last for a lifetime! The main techniques we were doing was Drfiting with socks in water depths ranging from 23-50 ft fishing suspended fish at 25-30 ft at .3-.6 mph deadsticking a 1/2-3/4 oz jig with a drop shot above the main jighead. Brighter colored jigheads and darker 3inch tails were working the best with the bigger fish. Pounding the boat with the Bobo Thumper along with my own stick and getting those fish to build up under the boat is also a big factor in getting the bite started.. Alot of the bigger fish caught were also up higher in the water column at 15-20ft. All fish were Caught and Released! The fishing remains very good on Cedar Creek and looks to be good in the near future as the weather will keep these fish in this pattern as it continues to stay colder. If you can brave the cold and wind and want some great action and the chance at some BIG fish, now is some of the best opportunities to do it. This would also be the same patterns in Lake Lewisville, Ray Hubbard, Richland Chambers, Palestine and Tawakoni. Here are some pictures from fish we caught throughout the week.

Awesome memories for all of you! Those are some nice fish. Iโ€™m glad to hear that your Bobo Thumper is still doing its job after so many years helping you put more fish in your boat. Thanks again for mentioning it! I appreciate you sir!

Awesome post. I'd like to join you sometime. It ismy understanding that you use livescope. How essential do you feel it is to your success?

DC-

l have a Garmin Livescope and a Lowrance Live Target. One on the front bow and one on the back corner of my boat. It has helped me know whether there is fish under me that are worth staying for and fishing or to move to another spot. It also helps in seeing what is underneath me as far as size of fish and understanding what they actually do under the boat. It is very interesting to see the reactions to different size baits and what you need to do to get them to react to your actions.. I will be down next week for a few days . PM me your number and I will call you and we can get out with you and Cliffshot for some fishing!
