what is a good weight for sandbass and what is a good fly

You can't go wrong with a Clouser Minnow and, as for fly rod, anything from a four weigt up to a seven weight (what one usually sees in the big box stores) would work well.

Personally, I like to fish the lightest rod I can to ensure the best amount of fun.

Depends on how deep they are. The keys are streamer type flies that are white/chartreuse. You might need lead eyes. Maybe bead chain. Also try tying some white/chartreuse wooley buggers.

right now they are on top. so 4wt 9ft is what i use. and its alot of fun. sometimes the hybrid take me on a chase

Good to see you looking here too! Some of these folks really know their stuff.
Important questions I might ask are, How do you fish? Boat bank, tube,kayak? Where do ya fish. Have you tried it before and how big's your wallet.
It's going to boil down to getting a few rods in your hand to find what your hand and wallet agree on. IMHO smile

Fishing boy. i learned this on from fly aka bill. he showed me a fly that he catches sandies on. i changed it up a little. you know because of the copy right laws haha. and its a 2 minute fly. very easy and fun to tie

Props to fly aka bill sanky for showing me this fly. ive been killing the sandbass and striper since he showed me his at sicilys tie in

I ordered a tube fly adaptor for my vice from tailwaters and will be making some killer white bass/striper flies soon(hopefully)

I'd rather use a 4 than anything else for sandies but sometimes a bigger rod is necessary for when they're breaking 70 feet from the boat.
