It has zero to do with the economy and everything to do with the fact that Texas is saturated with tournament events and the barrier to entry for new start ups is high. Doesn’t matter how much money you have and how much you put up. And I’m speaking mostly about stringer events.

Everyone has tried it, me included. And we’ve all met the same demise. Add to that the high entry element and they’re not coming.

Champs is the king here for a reason. Anglers are creatures of habit. They know what they’re going to get, how many are showing up and that the checks going to clear.

I can’t for the life of me figure out why anyone would want to be in the 5 fish derby business…

That’s my point, they don’t make money or at least enough to stomach the 3-5 year startup. You just run out of gas and energy for it.

And I’m not talking about Champs, I’m talking about the laundry list of others who are now in the Texas tournament directors memorial cemetery. de

A bunch fail because they do stupid things. Thurday through Saturday is stupid. Guys gotta miss a couple days of work maybe 3 if they have to drive down there on Wednesday. You already narrow the field with cost, location etc. Now guys that don't work for themselves have to take vacation time, every time you force a guy to take vacation you are taking that time from family trips etc. Mommas get mad about stuff like this. . And if you do work for yourself you have to decide if it's worth being gone half the week. You already have the opens if you want to spend all week fishing.

I wasn’t talking bout this trail just the ones that get you fish all season only to go some gar hole. From what I can tell this one looks good with nice payday

I also wonder what the payout down the field looked like. I think the projected payouts were based on 400 boats and they got significantly less.
