Haven't been around this forum much and this may have been discussed in other threads but......

Seeing how most everybody is from Texas...what are your thoughts about Texas moving to the SEC? Past few years their football has been down. Anxious to see how they do this year. What is the general thought around this forum on them playing in the SEC?

I think, in the end...its all about $.

Sacred heart of Mary, pray for us now and at the hour of our death. Amen
For those who believe, no explanation is necessary....for those who don't, no explanation is possible
For the sake of his sorrowful Passion, have Mercy on us and the whole world

They will suck in the sec. They sucked in the big 12.

it's about that in the beginning too, but also about marquee match-ups with huge tv contracts, better competition and playing in the premier league in college football

Texas will have no choice but to recruit and get better to compete there

OU will do much better, but not championship material.
I see UT as a .500 SEC program!

With NIL and the deep pockets of the TX . alums I think they will compete. I do think them and OU are going to have some growing pains but they are still football schools and will be playing in the premier football conference. In the Nation. As of right now they are sitting at the #2 recruiting class in the Nation and OU is number 4 with a few big fish still out there. I really don't see how the Big XIi can remain a power 5 conf unless they can poach a few Pac teams.

I am hopeful that the new DC will make their defense better.

I hate seeing Texas leave.

There are not many teams my Jayhawks can beat.

The big 12 will die a slow death. They had a bad conference commissioner who let Texas do what it wanted, rest of conference be damned. When Texas and Oklahoma decided to go they lost any real chance at ever being a top tier conference. There is no replacing those 2 programs from either a financial standpoint or a national name brand standpoint. They are the big loser in the conference wars with the pac 12 right beside them. The pac 12 better cling to Oregon and Washington or they will go the same way. I suspect okie state will be gone soon as well and at that point big 12 is really dead.

TV Money only helps a program in its success to a point. I don't hear anyone arguing that Nebraska has been kicking so much more [censored] since their move to the Big 10 with more money. The reality is if the Big 12 dies, which isn't going to happen because they still have good competition, thats bad for football altogether. I watch football within the conference because it affects the conference, and at least is still somewhat regional. I could really care less about watching a Michigan game or a Tennessee game. If the Big 12 conference goes South, Im not going to be tuning in to SEC football. As far as i'm concerned college football will just be dead.

They want premier matchups so bad, just wait till they start kicking dead weight out of these conferences. Sorry Vandy, Miss St, Kentucky, Mizzou, illinois, indiana, purdue, northwestern, maryland, rutgers, minnesota. Only way to make the money go up from here. While were at it, couldnt they make more if they just had Michigan and Ohio State play the 3 times every year?

Should have never expanded, was a fun conference back in the Big 8 days.

May you be treated the way you treat other people, today and everyday!

Yup, no national audience. Tcu and tech just isnt a compelling match up to sell. Outside of fort worth the only ones that want to watch are the tech peeps and they cant afford cable mostly.
