Well, I just did something that was either incredibly stupid, or a long-term happy choice.

I'm still struggling some days with oxygen levels & exhaustion, but in general I'm making slow improvement. Enough so that I'm out doing gardening & yardwork, walking down to the lake with my kid in the heat to go fishing or exploring in the wooded areas, and generally exerting myself as much as possible. Have wanted to start getting my kid on the water, but as hyper as she is, she'd ricochet right off the deck of my old 18' cc. I also figure that going fishing will help me improve physically, though that could just be me rationalizing what I want to do. Anyways, I found a 1996 23' Ranger CC twin engine that's in remarkably good condition & very well maintained. The cockpit is deep enough that I don't have to worry about the kid going over the side easily, and it'll certainly handle rough water in the lakes or offshore.

It took several weeks for the seller and I to work out our respective schedules for inspection, test run, etc., which gave me time to sell my old boat. Just picked it up yesterday, and was pleasantly surprised to find that backing this big trailer up is actually easier with my F250 than backing the 18' trailer was. The surge brakes DO work, and I remembered how to disengage them for backing into the driveway. Towing mileage for an 80+ mile trip was about 10.5mpg, which was fine for the weight involved.

Yeah, it's a bit on the big side for Lewisville sandbass fishing, but will be right at home for striper fishing on Texoma or Tawakoni. If you see this big ol' battlewagon out the water, feel free to motor up and say hi.

That is pretty awesome! Congrats Zack.

Would make a good catfishing platform as well and just a nice day out cruising.

Yup. Hoping to take my daughter (and probably a couple other family) out on Lewisville on July 4th so she can see the fireworks from the lake. I expect to be going after catfish, as well as state waters red snapper, etc.

But for now I'll be satisfied with just being on the water. Small steps.

Great boat, I love those classic center consoles like that. I'll say hello out on lewisville, I'll be in a 19' Sea Hunt CC with a gravy stripe.

Where do you fish of down on the coast? We have a couple of trips planned for the kids down to Port O'Connor this summer. Only go outside the jetties when its flat calm, but my kids like fishing there. My 9 yo daughter thinks she's gonna get a college scholarship catching a CCA STAR tournament redfish! Hey whatever it takes to get them in love with it all!

Enjoy that boat with your kid!!!!

Well, I used to pull the 18' cc down to Galveston or Freeport. When I do get ready for a coastal trip with this one, it'll probably be Port Mansfield . . . but maybe Corpus Christi area depending on time of year and what we're targeting.

Congrats! I pulled the trigger on a new boat late last year. I fish Tawakoni somewhat regularly. I’ll keep an eye out for you and say hi if you see me first.

Where did you find the boat posted? I'd like to go shop my self.

You going to keep that railing up on the front or take it down?
