Thanks for the kind words guys... I usually hang in the OT but I learn my bass fishing here. Lots of great information on TFF from so many different folks, guides, and pro fishermen. I read it all. What I think I've learned that has helped me become better is similar to being the ball in golf... be the bait in bass fishing.

Congratulations on the personal best bass. I need to get that Donkey Leash. I caught a big bass on the Brazos River and had a hard time managing the lipped fish, the fishing rod and a scale. I managed to drop the scale in the river before I got a weight. Is it possible to connect the Donkey Leash in lieu of lipping the bass by hand?

No, nothing beats your hand for securing a bass in my opinion, unless the fish has a stick bait in its mouth. I always have a hand net ready... then leash. JPeel gave me the leash and I'm sure the bass I've attached it to appreciate it as much as I do. https://www.amazon.com/Cal-Coast-Fi...;hvtargid=pla-4584001419793616&psc=1

Then pull the fish back out for quick measurements and pictures.

Nice catch! Great story. Thanks for posting the pictures. Most of us will never catch a bass that big, but we can hope, maybe someday. Very inspirational to the kayak fishing community.

When the Toyota ShareLunker Texas Parks and Wildlife program started recognizing 24 inch fish is when I really started paying attention to what it takes to catch big bass. Where else you gonna do what you enjoy doing and get recognized for it in Texas bass fishing history? Caught an 8 3/4 pound bass when I was 8, it took 50 years for me to break that personal best. The most important thing to me is fishing the lakes that I know produce big fish. I fish Fork, Palestine, Monticello, Murvaul, Martin Creek, and Naconiche. Other than Martin Creek, the other lakes are proven big fish lakes. Got my eyes on Fairfield and Lake of the Pines. Check out the bottom of this page for the Hot Lakes! https://texassharelunker.com/

Went back to Naconiche Friday afternoon. Had a business appointment 10 minutes from the lake and couldn’t resist. Missed a good one before I launched but i didn’t spend much time at ramp.. I was throwing 7 inch swimbait almost the entire time. Parking lot was almost full. No big ones today but did bust a good one off when it sawed me off. Caught three, all about the same size. My swimbait was taking a beating. Spoke to this gentleman for half an hour… he is a serious fisherman.. built this electric boat loader himself.. said he got hurt a few years ago trying to load his kayak… when it fell back on him… system he built winds rope up as it lifts then sits it down on top. This guy turned 77 today..

You fish harder in a day than most guys do in a month and it's great to see you catch such a beast. That being said...you never used to catch them THAT big until I gave you the donkey leash. I would request you send it to me in AZ right away but seems that a "dink-leash" is more suitable here 🙃
