So I was hoping the warmer afternoons would have the fish biting. Unfortunately the water is still fairly cold at the lake 56 degrees per my cheap thermometer. That combined with the full moon and waves meant I only saw one fish in the two hours I was there, plus one that I did finally get to bite. It was an average Medina LMB (which means not very big). Caught my little friend on a pink mepps spinner, he was about 11 inches. He inhalded my spinner and it took some effort to get it out. He swam away slowly after that, I hope he survived. I think in a couple weeks the water will be warm enough that fishing there should pick up.

It's time to set aside fishing for those green carp and start chasing the white bass CarlB. They are moving up into the creeks and rivers now. When you find them I'll come join you grin

Always enjoy your reports thumb

Thanks. I caught a white bass near where I caught the LMB a while back, but none since. I don't know white bass areas, I usually catch them by accident. I am thinking of going up the creek at Boerne lake to see if there's some up there. It looks like it doesn't go very far from the lake so they should be easy to find, but I've never heard of anyone fishing for them there.

There are a bunch in Boerne lake, they were on main lake, but I couldn’t find them on Sunday. So it’s possible they moved into the creek.

Edit: I say “a bunch”, but I should probably say quite a few. I think I caught 15 or so on one outing. I think there are more white bass, than largemouth to be honest.

Are you still allowed to put in a boat at Boerne lake as long as you don't fire up the big motor?

Yes, trolling motor only. Not sure it’s worth the trip from San Antonio, I’ve been out 3 times and caught 2 black bass that were about 12”. I think the big yellow catfish have eaten all the largemouth, it’s baffling to me. No reason why the largemouth fishing should be so bad.

Thanks. Fished Choke yesterday and it was very slow. We managed 4 fish for 8 hours of fishing.

A couple of the guides on FB are acting like it’s great down there, I’m not going back down there until we get some stable temperatures. thumb
