Hooked up a rig similar to a crappie rig and fished right off the end of one of the marina bays for the large cabin cruisers. It was 28 Ft of water and we were in some trees. It was almost like dead sticking nowadays and the rod slowly started gently going up and down. Thought I hooked a tree. Guide told to reel it up and slowly so what looked like a giant white mouth opened up coming straight to the surface. Zero fight so far. Came to the surface, jumped once gently, we better her and releases gently immediately afterwards. She looked evacuated to me and he said in a month or so, it probably would’ve gained a couple of pounds. He said the big females move into the area and stock up getting ready for the spawn early. It was quite an experience catching something like this by accident.

I caught a 9.3 two weeks ago out there crappie fishing in 42' of water on a deep dock. Actually caught 3 bass off that one dock that day that would have went 17-18 lbs. Amazing what an 1/8oz jig can produce. Oh and had two limits of crappie in under 2 hours on that same dock.

Lake is very healthy!
One night about two or three weeks ago I had three of the biggest bass I have seen chase my swim jig out from underneath a dock. all well over 10 pounds.
We have also seen some Giants chase the crappie we catch to the boat. congrats to the guys who caught the two Tanks.

I think thats one reason it doesn't get as much attention as some lakes. Not a lot of boat friendly places to stay. Bass Hallow has some cabins, as well as Gold Coast. Everything else is away from the water. Several big marinas on the lake, but are all private/timeshare stuff. Plenty of ramps all around the lake if you dont want to make long runs.
