Report for 2/6/2022. Beautiful sunny day with temps I'm the low 60s for a bit, light wind from the west sw. Hit the water around 3pm for an afternoon scout. Water temps in Yegua creek were 46 degrees. Water was muddy, low visibility and the creek was ripping with fast current. Ran all the way up to Newman's bottom from the main Lake. The lake is about 1.5' over pool. Water was 1-2 feet below the top of the creek bank in most places. Water was over the trail at the culverts at Newmans, enough to take my boat over. Stopped and checked a few spots with a few different baits, no bites. Fast moving muddy water with lots of trash was difficult to fish.
Ran over to Nail's Creek just before sundown. Ran up past the flag pond ditch. Water was also dirty, but way less flow and not as high. Poked around there for a bit, had one solid hit that short struck a curl tail underpin. Water temp was still in the low 50s there.
Yegua is gonna need about a week before it is ready to fish. Both creeks got a should flush and the water coming into the creek is more than adequate for a good run. Be patient, it's coming
If I fished for money.........I'd be broke.
In a world of compromise.....Some don't.

I don't get up this way as often as in the past but Cedar creek flows with the promise of good springtime fishing and years of memories...

There's a bridge you can park near along the side of the road. Make sure you check in at Nails Creek State Park. From the bridge head towards the lake.

I fished for a about an hour yesterday in north Houston in Cypress creek where it Y's off from spring creek and caught 11, once I changed to a small mepps spinner and found the right spot it was game on. Pulled out some fatties!

I suspect the smaller creeks like Birch, Cedar & Nails, might be a better choice for this weekend..

Hey Rich! Friends haul looks good! They did really good for 2.5hrs on the water. Guys always wait for a report of tons of fish caught before they go. By then youre 2 weeks late! 😉😉 We’ve been getting into them steadily for few weeks now.

I generally go fishing when I can, since work and school keep me very busy. A lot of the time conditions are just not right and it's tough fishing. I understand guys waiting for good reports, especially when they're driving 3 to 4 hours round trip.

Why does it seem this time of year the cold fronts always fall on weekends?

I have found in the pass, if the run is going fronts don’t effect fishing that much.
