Got to Whitney and launched around 8am. Serious bird action this morning and picked up about a dozen chasing birds. By 10am they kind of cooled off. Tried the thumping and dead stick (still a noobie at this) and picked up 3 more. Total count of 15, all legals. Biggest was 22. Kept four for tacos

NIce. Thanks for the report. I'll be another striper noobie there this Friday. I saw the bird action during the weekend while camping at Plowman. I was hunting the last weekend of deer season out there.

I had a great afternoon last friday, slow trolling a-rigs and big swim baits along the river channel just north of the bridge. Fish were stacked all along the channel edge in 25-30fow. Action was steady. I caught 20 fish 17" - 22" in just 2 hrs.

1.8 to 2mph I was using the trolling motor and autopiloting a line where the river channel meets the flat. I worked speeds from 1.5 to 3.5 mph and the sweet spot was just under 2mph. I don't have any method to how far back and deep I was running the baits. The fish were suspended from the bottom up to about 15' in 25-30 ft of water. I would let the baits run out about 10 seconds and drop them in a rod holder then sit back and wait.
