that's the only kind of line they had. monofilament didn't come along till the 50's You are correct sir.. It was made from spun cotton, and sometimes infused with horsehair.

Not only that.
After Gunsmoke went out of production.
Doc, Miss Kitty, and Festus, formed a singing trio. And did western shows and rodeos...
On a sad note.. Miss Kitty, died from complications from aids.
RIP- to all three..

I used to use that grayish braid stuff cat fishing.....when I was a little tike.

may have been catgut. Catgut is a natural material it is prepared from the natural fibre in the wall of the intestines of sheep and goats then they are twisting to the ribbons and joining them in wet condition plus giving the monofilament finish.
