Hey Glenn, we all live and learn amigo. If you say it was 29.75 then it was legal but I bet you sure don’t want a game warden to measure it. Every time I speak up about catfish conservation a few feathers get ruffled. I’ve seen first hand what over harvesting of big fish can do to our fishery. Before catfish conservation was a thing, Lewisville was a Top 5 Bluecat fishery and the #1 Flathead fishery in Texas. It is a shadow of its old self these days due to the big fish being removed from the lake. Now that there are so many new anglers entering our hobby it is more important than ever to teach the importance of conservation. Sorry I called ya out on the forum man. Hopefully in the future you’ll release the bigger fish back into our lake so that my son and others like him can continue to catch toads in 10-15-20 yrs. No hard feeling Amigo.

Thanks again fellas! I started letting Jaxon take the rod out of the rod holder to reel em in Yesterday for the first time instead of making him leave it in the rod holder. He had 10x the fun holding the rod in his hands while bringing em in and he was hoisting fish into the boat for the first time as well. Hope I don’t regret that with a rod and reel going overboard. Truth be told he handled the rod like a seasoned vet and hopefully we can hang one over 20 lbs soon so I can watch him tangle with something of size. So many cool moments getting to fish so much with my son. Thanks for joining us on our long journey to Catville, USA.

Eaters were definitely out this weekend and the kids love the action.

Here on the Tennessee River, Saturday's weather was perfect. G Dam had cut the water release down to 51k (4 open gates). Perfect except no one told the catfish. One undersized channel. Could not even get the dinks to bite and for the first time this year we able to use skipjack as bait. Everybody is catching crappie, so I may leave the catfish alone next weekend.

Is it just me or do these 29 lb box anchors get heavier every dang spring. I keep saying you need a TM with a spot lock feature. I took out my front anchor. I keep a rear anchor to help keep the stern from swaying when a sea anchor won't. But on 90% of my trips the rear anchor never sees the river bottom.

It’s much easier for me to spot lock in current and cast out the back then it is to spot lock in wind and waves and fan cast around the boat. I use the clickers when I’m anchored and I can’t keep tight lines when I spot lock unless there is current pulling the line a little. Wish it worked for me but I gotta have tight lines Nut.
