So we have been remodeling my home office over the last few weeks.
Finally getting around to replacing the existing ceiling fan. From the ceiling/power are 3 wires, white-neutral, black-hot and ground, all connecting to existing fan. This fan is connected to a single wall switch for power and I used the pull chains on the fan for the light on/off and fan on/off.
The new fan w/light has an additional blue wire. Is the the power for the light? If so, I connect the blue to black and all should be good right?

Since this remodel has started, I've learned a few things:
1) There isn't a square corner to be found in said office hammer
2) Installing corrugated tin panels by yourself are a PITA
3) AC outlets let lot's of unwanted air inside, caulk rules
4) I can't wait to get my shizzle back in there and be done with this project.

Some folks mouths, flat out runs their minds.

Expanding foam in moderation is often a better choice on #3.

That's exactly right. If you want to control the fan and light separately, install one with a remote control.
