In a couple weeks I will be doing a 48 hour range carp fishing session down at Lake Austin.
That's several whole days out in the sun, and while I'll try to stick to the shade as much as possible, I'm going to want sunscreen on anyway. And at night, I'll want bugspray to keep the mosquitos and others off of me.
So does anyone know any good remedies or methods for getting the scent of sunscreen and bug spray off your hands?

Use the spray version for sunscreen and usually you can avoid a lot of the scent on your hands. It works well too.

Thanks, maybe I'll give that a shot.
How expensive is it compared to the regular stuffand how well does it work?
I do have some sun-sensitivity issues do to extensive medication I was on while in the hospital a while back, so as per doctors orders I usually smear the regular stuff on pretty thick lol.

I keep a bar of Ivory soap in the boat for that very reason.

Ivory Soap?
I take it that's pretty effective, and the soap scent doesn't bother the fish?

Alan, Toothpaste huh? I'd think that would leave another scent the fish might not like, but I suppose it depends on the type.
And I think if I went for 3 days without deodarant it would be a very unpleasant ride home lol.

get a stainless steel bar and wash your hands with it. It will eliminate the scent.

As a side note to this topic one of our local news stations recently ran a story about using a lot of sunscreen and bug spray with Deet at the same time. Apparently the sunscreen causes your body to absorb a lot more of the Deet than it would otherwise. They suggested making sure the sun block was rubbed in good and dried well before applying the insect repellent.

Interesting RR, thanks for the information.
I don't think I will be applying the bugspray till it's getting dark and by then I would have had the sunscreen on for a long time.
