Hey everyone, I recently got a new 106sv Garmin unit. I got the 2 or 2.5 inch ball for it and want to mount it on the bow. I’ve read a lot of different different ideas but was hoping for some feedback on mounting that on the deck. I have an HDS5 flush mounted there now that doesn’t work. (Plan on using bolts, marine nuts and big washers for stability)My concerns are drilling thru the carpet and drilling a hole for the cables to run thru. If anyone has any pics of setups the have that are similar, that would be amazing.

when you mark the holes start the drill in reverse and push solid on it, need a hole in the carpet or it will pull.

I have some pcs of tubing I sharpened on the end, tap them thru and cut a hole to drill.

seal the holes well, GOOP marine is great for it.

Great idea about the carpet hopalong. Thanks for the feedback. I’m gonna be putting it in on the next week or two so hopefully that will work!
