Thanks for the feedback guys. It's a lot of money to spend, just want to make sure I do it right the first time. The images on all the youtube vids look awesome. I'm hoping it all works as good as they say.

Do any of you know if the new Mega 360 will work on a 1198c. I know it will not show MEGA but I wonder if it would still work until I can afford a Solex Thx
Best todate 12.03 Clyde Lake. 1995 Elite 202 Champion still floating.

I believe you have to have either the Solix Gen2 or Helix Gen3 for the Mega. If you're on a budget go for the original 360 used and a compatible graph that's used. Check out bassboatcentral.com under electronics for sale. I have sold and bought many items there and haven't had a bad experience yet. Just do your due diligence... With the newer models out now you can probably find some sweet deals...
I have two 1198c units and know they will read the first 360 but don’t know if the Mega would still work as a non mega when hooked to a 1198c. I would l8ke to try a 360 but don’t want to have to buy a 360 then have to try and buy another 360mega when I upgrade my graphs

Based on everything I am seeing the answer is "No". They changed from Network-Driven to Unit-Driven with the Mega360, and you have to have the most recent software on the Helix and Solix units to even recognize it.
There is no software update for the 1198 that will allow it...

Interference - There are 4 "Noise Filters". If you are getting interference when you turn or activate your TM on filter 1, it will likely interfere on filter 3. Try filter 2 or 4 (fixed it for me).
Didn't seem to make a difference. I think it is a ground issue.
I received a replacement Power Cable trying to figure this out and they HAVE changed the install instructions. They want the Shield Ground connected regardless of which setup you have (switched/direct to battery).
they have gone back and forth on that shielding wire being grounded. the latest is to not ground it.
I spoke with HB and they said to ground the shielding wire. I also ran dedicated positive and negative wires from the TM to the Battery. Still no picture...Im not sure that the 360 transducer isn't bad. Also still seeing some minor interference. I have tried all four of the "noise filter" settings on the Helix. Stumped for sure....
Have you updated to the latest software version? I ran a small wire from the skeg area of the trolling motor to the negative wire powering the trolling motor and that cleared all of my interference up. Only takes a few minutes and possibly an easy fix. You can see the difference by adding the wire.

Yes, I have the latest software updates. A direct ground wire to the battery should clear up any interference.

Did you run a ground down to the tm?
Ive helped a lot of people on the lake with issues, usually if they run a wire from the tm negative down to the tm head it solves it... Mine is a hose clamp around the head with a spot ground bare and the wire connector under it. at the other end your going to the negative at the tm from the battery not in the tm head w the fuse.
