Got to hit the lake yesterday and did a little bass fishing early and was intending to hit some of the 100 plus brush piles that the BRA put out a few years ago for some crappie. We could find the brush piles but the crappie were not on them, ended up finding them in the timber and they were 6' to 8' down in the timber, I guess the brush piles are too deep for them cause most all the fish were up high. Had about 6 slabs in the 1.75# range and my friend caught a 3#drum that ended up breaking his ultra-lite rod. Ended up catching around 25 to 30 on jigs, white/chartruse and black and blue. Kept 17 for the freezer.

Yes, I stated my buddy caught a drum and broke his rod, notice the rod broke in half?

PK has had a golden algae outbreak and there are crappie dead everywhere from Rock Creek to Caddo. More dead crappie than anything else.

That kind of explains why they were up high in the water column. That's a dam shame, I was really getting to like that place.

Can't find anything on TPWD website about an outbreak of golden algae. Too bad they just released 43 thousand small mouth bass just recently.
