96 Skeeter, garage kept until 3 three years ago. Trailer cross members split 4 years ago, so I reinforced with angle iron. Worked fine until this year....now it's literally rusting out from under the boat and falling apart...EVERYWHERE.
Thin wall painted steel. @%^$&*&*&$$!!
I called Skeeter and they gave me the number of TI Trailers. I havent called them yet..but I will. Dont tell me it was saltwater, because I wash the [censored] out of it....and my friend, who bought the exact same rig on the same day is having the same problems. His has never been in saltwater. To think that Skeeter sells this trailer with this boat is sickening to me. Like I said, my boat is nearly perfect. Anyone else have this problem? If so...where did they go to get a new trailer frame? I want a trailer that matches the boat...just like I had, ...only better. Mine is so bad now that I wont use it until I replace it.
Now, Donald...please pick John Bolton for your running mate.

Steel trailers are just junk, all of 'em.
Sorry to hear your troubles, but if I were going to keep that rig, especially in s. Louisiana, I'd get ahold of McClain or someone and snag me a aluminum unit.

LOCAL ANGLERS had a Skeeter trailer dump on him. He had Roadrunner Trailers in Lewisville build him one. The trick to steel trailers is to build it with channel instead of tubing. My 88 Champion trailer is still in great condition. It is made of channel, so there is no place for water to collect.

All of the tube steel trailers will rust out because there are not any weep holes in the tubing to allow water to run out! They are all junk, like another said above, a channel steel trailer is the way to go if ya don't wanna spend the bucks for am aluminum one!
Keep your powder dry & don't fire until you see the whites of their eyes!!

TL...it has weep holes. That's exactly where the first splits occurred 3 years ago. The steel is just too thin...period. If I pull the boat again...it's so rusted out, that I believe that it'll drop my boat or the whole tongue will pull away from the trailer itself.
It's junk... and may cause me to never buy another Skeeter product again, even though I have loved both of my Skeeters.
I wanted to sell the boat at some point in time....and have it look good when I finally sell it. Now, I'll have to spend a ton on another Skeeter trailer to make the rig look right...and that would be fine and dandy, if the trailer I replace it with isnt junk....nor cost me and arm and a leg. I resent the heck out of Skeeter for putting a great boat on a junk trailer.
Now, Donald...please pick John Bolton for your running mate.

A freind of mine had his wife pull theire Skeeter boat to the lake once. When she arrived the trailer was totaly broken in two. The boat was holding it together just enough to get there. We had to tie the trailer together before we launched the boat. It's not just Skeeter trailers though, any tube trailer will likely have the same problems. I have seen brand new trailers for sale from local dealers for $900 - $1000. Tube trailers that where left from buyers upgrading the trailers when purchasing the rig.

Old Frog,
If you need a new trailer, call me. I'm a Roadrunner dealer. They built their trailers out of C channel rather than tube. I can save you some $$ over an EZLoader (TI Trailer).

Not everyone may agree with or have the same opinion but I am going to say it anyway. It is too bad that sometimes the ones that build quality items sometimes go out of business because people don't understand that you get what you pay for. I have a OKT box channel trailer that was an upgrade from the std. Ranger trailer and it will be 22 years old in Nov.. I did not want the fiberglass fenders that came with the Ranger. I have replaced the bunks (once), lights, leaf springs etc.. It has a little rust that I need to take care of but other than that it is in good shape. It does have drain holes. It seems to be a little heavier that the other box channel trailers that I have seen. I seem to recall that OKT got bought by Shoreline and then Shoreline went beely up.
