I am headed to Medina this morning, taking my young daughter and her friend fishing. We live 15 minutes from the lake so I have fished there frequently and know some spots that sometimes work well. Normally I do not ask for tips and am willing to chart/fish all day to find a bite, but in this case I'd like to get some intel in order to keep the girls from getting bored. Give me a hint! Do it for the children!!!

Fishing report... All of the fish have left the lake. Fish somewhere else. The End.
OK so we fished the main lake points for the most part with some venturing into one or two coves where there was structure or flooded timber. We also fished several cliffs. Overall we were trying in 15-25 feet of water using deep dive crankbait, jig with brush hog, and jig with senko. Nada. There were 10 other trailers parked at Reds with several out fishing. I did not see that anyone else was having much luck either.
But wow what a beautiful day to be out on the water.

Clearly I was doing it wrong... So was the bite mostly in the early morning? That has happened to me there once before, good bite until about 10 am then it just shut down.

Not sure how the fish were caught, but it was posted that several were culling up for ounces. Sorry you didn't have any luck for your daughter and her friend, but don't give up on Medina she can be a challenge sometimes, bonus at other times. Debra

I fished the tournament last Sunday. We came in second and I caught the big bass which was just over 3 lbs. The fish were scattered between 10’ to 35’. We caught about 20 fish all together. The majority of the bass came on a Jackall Flick Shake, ned rig, dropshot and crankbaits. Secondary points, ledges and creek channel bends were what we primarily targeted. Never in my life have I caught 10 keepers and have a total 5 fish sack weigh less than 10 pounds. You really have to weed through a lot of dinks to catch a decent one. It was still a lot of fun though.

So I fished Medina today starting before sunrise and finished about 2:30 pm. I tried several different things in several different areas but in the end what worked was a c-rig fished on a secondary point with submerged brush and a shelf. In that spot I caught 6-7 LMB in about an hour but they were all dinks, with one possible exception that shook off near the boat.
Beautiful weather, great day to be on the water, not even much wind to fight. All good.
In the North-South section of the lake it looked like someone blew up a really large foam ice chest. There were hundreds of white pieces of plastic foam all over the lake from the turn at the cliffs to Spettel Cove.
There were a lot of other fishing boats out on the water. I did not count them but I'd guess there were 10-12 trailers at Red's when I left.

Anyone been up river, or if you can go up that far with the lake level? Anyone know if Pop's place is even open at Alamo Beach? Been years since I've been there and I'm curious.

I went upriver a few months ago and Pop's Place was reachable, though it is closed AFAIK. In this area the river is is shallow and there are large boulders in the area so I always idle through there very carefully. I have only been about as far as the road circled in red on the image below. From what I could see the next bend to the right (heading upriver) might be navigable but I did not try it myself.

I grew up fishing that part of the river from the lake (Liebolds Camp) to what was called Reude's camp on Red Bluff Creek near French Crossing. That section you show was all fished on foot about 90% of the time. Back in the heyday both Wharton's dock and Alamo Beach were going strong if there was water or not. The whitebass run was always a little dicey, but when it was on you could load the freezer, but it just seems it was better back then, and more predictable, plus the fact there wasn't as much development, and bank access was not a problem for miles. Sorry for the trip down memory lane!
