I've been looking into a trolling motor for my 12ft flatbottom. Does anybody have any advice about what kind to get?

Go to Wally world or Academy. Minn Kota makes a small motor I believe they are called Endura or used to be. Get at least a 30lb, but I'd get a 36 or 40# if you can They are tiller with about 5 speeds and reverse. They are fairly inexpensive. You can mount it on the transom or get a bracket to mount it on the bow. I had an Endura 36# on my old 15ft aluminumk and it would scoot pretty good.

cody i have a 46 minnkota on my 15 foot.
it is about right.
i also use it on my 14 foot (very light) 1974 flatbottom.
it will push it TOO GOOD!!!! heck when i have it in 5 i have a wake behind me.
i would go with a 36 Minnkota Endura. it is the cheapest TM you can get and it is a very good motor. get a 12 volt, with a 36 inch shaft.
