Who gives a [censored]. Fish catch and throw them back. Fish catch and eat them. Do y’all really think it matters on a huge lake like that? GFoff

So I don't feel like it is as bad as it use to be, but yet Toledo fishing has been good. So what is the issue again, everyone who has a license has a valid right to keep fish.

Just because it's legal now doesn't mean it should continue to be legal forever and hence forth. Lots of laws change over time as conditions change. We have more and more fishermen fishing the same amount of water. Basic math will tell you that we will likely need to reduce limits at some point in the future. I don't understand guys who get all defensive about folks challenging whether the status quo is still working for a fishery. Nothing wrong with airing some well intentioned concerns.

While I generally agree with your assessment, Jarrett I've personally kept many limits of spots on Rayburn and know a lot of other folks who do it too. They're tasty, but keeping them isn't going to hurt a thing because no one's winning a Rayburn tournament with spots in their bag.

Or them pesky 2.5 lbers.... pics coming

4 of them came in 4 casts.
Last pic is my Cajun buddy, had 17 total, couple of largemouth in there.

Succulent Baby Bass Tacos!!!

I suspect the nature Boyz will disapprove of the harvesting of an over abundant resource.

I do. Been fishing it for 36 years and have lived on it for extended periods several times. Not once in 36 years has that lake ever had a downturn due to over harvest. And not once in that time period did folks stop taking fish out of the lake.

I agree. But air out those concerns with officials and work to get laws changed. Don't constantly troll and harass fishermen that are abiding by the law. Some people fish for pleasure and enjoy tournament fishing. Other people fish because they like to eat them. Neither party is wrong, until they actively take a stance against the other. I hate seeing a filet knife taken to a 5 lber as much as anybody else, but I don't have the right to constantly harass people that like to eat those fish.

For those of you that say, whaaaaaaa, I’m with in my right to eat whatever I catch because I’m within my legal right to do so, whaaaaaaa.... you are right, guess what, that 5 lber you just ate, you won’t ever catch her again when she’s 8...9.....10....11...., you get the point.. keep on greasing all those bass, then complain on here years down the road... #RIG....rest in grease.....

I’m not saying limits are too liberal or that folks shouldn’t be able to keep the fish. I am saying that it has an impact on numbers of quality fish and the decline there in the last few years. It’s simple math that if you double or triple the amount of people keeping fish, specifically big fish that it’s going to have a negative impact.

I don’t mind eating bass...I don’t mind photos of cooked bass...I do mind a photo of a broken cream sauce. Probably got too hot, it’s separated and that’s why there is clear liquid all over the plate. You could have saved it before putting it on the fish with a little love.

Heres the thing. I'd rather catch 1- 10 lb fish than go catch 100-2 lb fish.

Many people that keep these fish, would rather catch the 100-2 lb fish. They dont care about a trophy bass, they want fish to eat. Neither side is wrong, only different view points. Neither side certainly has precedence over the other..

Was not Toledo Bend the #1 bass fishing lake in the country recently? Did they stop harvesting bass prior to that?

I think its hilarious so many people whine about theres no more big fish, then complain about the meat eaters keeping big fish. Maybe those meat eaters are just better fishermen and thats the issue.

I like to duck hunt. The law says i can shoot 6. What if some people think 4 is enough. Should they constantly cyber stalk and troll every duck hunter that keeps 6?

Not every public lake is designed to be a trophy bass lake. The average public fisherman would rather have numbers. Toledo Bend actually has both.

They never stopped harvesting bass. It’s just that after it was named #1 boat ramps in the spring had 3 times as many fishermen with the same percentage keeping fish.
