Anyone in the DFW area attempting to do service work on these units?
Just in case some of you do not know, Lowrance will not offer factory repair of any kind after warranty expiration on any of their high end units and the cost to exchange an HDS Gen 3-12 with a six month warranty is $1,125.00. This is a rip off guys. They have the test equipment and skilled technicians to quickly determine if it would be more cost effective for their customers to repair or replace their defective unit.

Ever since Lowrance was bought by Navico they've really gone downhill. Navico thinks it's better to force a guy on a limited budget to cough up 2500 for a new unit than help him out by fixing what the Mexican factory screwed up. Garmin and H'bird have gained a lot of new customers thanks to Navico's poor judgement.

What�s wrong with unit? Just FYI. I have a gen2 that gps would not get a fix on. Didn�t realize there is/was a gps patch that came out in early April and almost took unit apart to see if ribbon cable was the issue. Check their site first to make sure software is up to date.
