Lake Fork Anglers Hard Core (Major League Fishing format) is pretty cool getting to count every fish you catch.

As described below section 1 is all of Big Caney, Section 2 is from where section 1 ends and goes north to the FM 515 West bridge. Section 3 is everything from the 515 w bridge north.

Like the real TV show every fish over 10" counts. You must catch 6 LB + in one of the qualifying, and fish at least 6 tournaments to move into the semi-final. We set it low so most of our members would make to the second level. But there is three ways to qualify.

Today, May 16 , we fished section 1. It started out around 65 and then got hot, and the wind was brisk starting around noon. Today was the full moon. Even though the spawn is supposed to be over fish were caught that had not spawned as yet. And the number of boats on the lake was disturbing with the Legend tournament being this weekend.. Registration began at5:45 AM and fishing started at 6:00 AM.

The winners catching all of their fish using swimbaits, c-rigs, t-rigs, rattle traps, and bladed jigs.
Most of todays bass were caught in 3 feet or less. But the overall lunker came out of 15'. And that was a real nice 10.40 LB.

Boaters:

First place went to Tim Gold of Mineola with 10 bass for 37.90 LB. with the BOATER lunker of 10.40 LB. on a rattle trap.
Second place went to Bob Roberts of Longview with 10 bass for 30.15 LB with a lunker of 6.98 LB. caught on a swim bait.
Third place went to Jack White of Carrolton with 8 fish for 15.17 LB. with a lunker of 5.08 LB..
Fourth place went to Don Overstreet of Sulphur Springs with 4 bass for 15.55 LB with a 8.52 LB lunker
Fifth place went to Charlie Abresch of Hawkins with 3 bass for 12.12 LB. with a 9.12 LB lunker.

Co-Anglers

First place went to Charlie Arnold of Lake Fork with 8 bass for 12.67 LB. and a lunker of 2.29 LB.
Second place went to Alf Tuggle of Trophy Club with 4 bass for 11.97 LB with a 5.08 LB lunker on a t-rig green pumpkin worm..
Third place went to Bob Lambert of Lavon with 4 bass for 10.88 LB with THE co-angler lunker of 7.28 LB.
Fourth place went to Mac McDaniel of Sulphur Springs with 4 bass for 9.09 LB with a 4.31 LB lunker.
Fifth place went to Ken Keilbas of Arlington with 6 bass for 8.11 LB with a 2.74 KB lunker..

16 members qualified for the semi final.

100 Total fish were caught today with 1 skunk.

For info on fishing this tournament and others put on by the Lake Fork Anglers contact me at sjbasser@aol.com or PM me on here. We have openings for both boaters and co-anglers right now. This is a club that fishes only on Thursday daytime. Dues are $5 a year. The money winners explain their techniques and baits for the benefit of the other members at the weighin.

All of our tournaments are priced for seniors as follows. $15 entry Payback of $12. Optional lunker pool 100% payback of $5. Optional 100% payback side pot for $10 per person.

In addition to this format that we call "Hard Core" we also fish our regular every other Thursday tournament all at Lake Fork on a draw style fishing. All of our tournaments "paper" the bass and slot fish count.

If you are as "Hard Core" as some of us you can fish 48 Thursdays a year like we do. And one Fridays too. And then Opens on the weekend. But you only really have to fish 8 regular LFA tournaments to maintain membership.

Hey we are seniors and we are supposed to be doing something to keep us healthy and our minds sharp and get some vitamin D. LOL At least that is what you need to tell your wife.
