Fished Dunlap today from 9 am til 3 pm. No wake boats today, & only 2 jet skis. Mostly fisher people. The bluegill bite is really picking up. Caught around 50 sunnies, 4 bass, and 1 catfish. None of the bass were over a pound. Water temp was 67 - 68 degrees. Could not find any Crappie shallow...do not think they have moved in yet. Caught 90 % of sunnies off of 2 docks around mid lake. Current still pretty strong, but manageable. [Linked Image]

Great post Vogey. I was fishing Mcqueeney yesterday and the fish were active there. We caught a few nice Redear in the 9 to 10 inch range. Also caught some nice Bluegill and Redbreast. Boat traffic was light. The sunfish/crappie spawn is very soon. Again nice post and fish. Good job Sir. woot

Side Note: Guadalupe River Flow has been below 500 all week. Did you put in below IH 35. If so how was the current?

Curtis. I fished Dunlap this past Tuesday and the current was pretty strong. I do not know the IH-35 ramp conditions but have heard that the boat launch current is manageable. Even under ideal conditions the current at that ramp is somewhat a challenge. juggle

Laker...The current is not that bad...it is the strongest under the I-35 ramp, but lessons the further downstream you go. I do launch under the I-35 overpass. There were several other Kayakers out yesterday that put in under I-35.

Banker...Those 2 red ear came from that same dock I was fishing when I saw you guys. That general area is also where I had luck with crappie last year but according to my log the date was 3/20 & the water temp was 70-73 degrees, so with another cold spell we may have to wait a while for some shallow crappie. I talked to a guy yesterday that said his friend caught some the day before, but they were in 18 foot of water.

Thanks Steve. Once the water temperature hits between 70 and 74 degrees the spawn is usually going to begin. I usually catch most of my Crappie on Dunlap in late February to mid March. I usually catch a few year around but only at two different docks. thumb

As long as there is no major flooding Dunlap and the rest of the Guadalupe River should be very very good! hooked
