Just got off phone with Navico. I have a 2 year old Carbon 12 that caught a tungsten weight. Screen is cracked but still functioning. They told me that they wont touch it. Only thing they do is replace units that have manufacture defect. Anyone know of any options to get the thing fixed? High humidity lets moisture in it and it doesnt work right. I may be dumb but it seems pretty easy to get iPad and cellphone touch screens replaces, does anyone do that for marine electronics?

Try these guys, not sure if they replace screens though. It does say they do not repair cracked or brocken Screens currently but may have some helpful information https://www.clearcastmarine.com

Be interesting on who you buy from that does fix things like this. I wish these companies would just sell a module. What screen we use is up to us.

Be interesting on who you buy from that does fix things like this. I wish these companies would just sell a module. What screen we use is up to us. It would be to costly to make it as a module . The interface between the multiple processors and the I/O of the LCD screen are critical . One disconnected pin and the unit won't look normal . Even though I do not own any of the Lowrance products , I would bet money that the "screen " is adhered to the main PCB with some type of water proof sealant that locks out moisture from the screen the PCB and it's components , especially because of the outdoor use case . Taking it apart would be very costly for Lowrance and I would think the "repaired " unit would have concerns about how well it can with stand rain , dirt etc....

Lowrance not repairing stuff is not new news. Been going on for years. Now that hummingbird had caught up I will go that direction next. I have been really impressed with the birds on my partners boat

Humminbird isn't much better, they have set prices for repairs. I have a 9 inch si that works but the illumination went out, can barely see it. They want $430 to fix it, no matter what is wrong. Can't be much wrong. It is sitting in my shed till I can get enough pennies to repair it.

Never test the depth of the water with both feet.

You guys should try being a home builder in 2019. It would amaze you on what people think you should fix for them.
