Hey all, I am running a humminbird 998c SI and I am having a hard time getting my lake master chip to load in the unit. When I click it in one of the slots it clicks in securely, ask if I wanna import the data and then nothing happens. I have scoured YouTube and cant seem to find a video about this process. Also humminbird website only says insert chip and go. Any suggestions? I am going to try and load it in my 898c on the front and see if the chip or the unit acts up. Tips and hints appreciated!

Have you been writings files to the map card? You get that question for importing GPS data (Waypoints,Routes,Tracks). This is not mapping.

No I have not written any files to the map card. The map tab option will not open on my set up menu either. Hopefully updating it will solve my issues

Can you post a picture of the map chip? It shouldn't ask you to import data, it should just say "loading map" when you're on the map screen. It reads directly from the card, it shouldn't load anything onto the unit's hard drive.

Slight update. Last night I updated the 998 graph per the humminbird website. Update went smooth, unit turned on, still can not get it to read the lakemaster chip. I can play with the gps capability in simulation mode. My gps puck Is brand new, freshly ran cables. Also the unit sd slots work because it read the sd card with the update just fine. I have read on other forums about the gps wire prongs not being tight in the unit? Side note, updated the 898c and now it is stuck turning on and off repeatedly. Was not hesitant to try to update it since the other update went smoothly. Tried it on both power sources on the boat, it's not a power issue, perhaps the update garbled it up? Picture of the sd card: and confirming it has lakemaster data on it, put it in the computer, it read fine and had files in it.

Hmmm neither of my two lakemaster cards look like that. I have v3 and v4 lakemaster plus. They're both black.
