I'm headed to Falcon for the first time on Thursday. Planning on fishing Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Anyone on here care to share some tips? Where to eat breakfast?, Where to eat dinner? What to watch out for? Areas to stay away from? Anything to make this trip as safe and enjoyable as possible. And most importantly.....any areas or patterns for fishing?? Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance

My favorite restaurant is El Rincon. Theyre all pretty close to the same, though. You gotta like chicken fried steak smothered in gravy and cheese and youll be alright. Magnum lizards, brush hogs, and flukes....all in Watermelon red or candy. Nothing but 20-25lb flouro with heavy action rods. Find the drains leading into small pockets or coves and fish. Youll prolly be bed fishing as well, not for sure but would bet there are some on beds. GL!

RC and Okie said all you need to know...I go with Tinas' for breakfast and El Rincon for supper. James will point you in the right direction on lures and areas. If no action where you are, MOVE. The next pocket or creek arm can make things right! This time of year I like midlake to the south end but the Veleno in town can't be overlooked either. Since it's your 1st time I would not recommend venturing into Mexican water. Plenty to fish in 3 days in Texas!

Its been tough the weather is all over the place.

Id fish Mexico side only and if you get bit a few times Id stay there and hammer them. Ive been here2 weeks today.

Saw some on beds 10 days ago but none since the latest cold front or fronts.

Wednesday I will send you some places to go and some waypoints to hit.
Always nice for a first timer to get ahead of the game

**** BUT ---- I would also suggest trying to hook up with Broken Braid Guide Service -----
a guide really HELPS the first time down there
or go with people that have been there before
FALCON is a "get to know" lake --- because EVERYTHING looks good, especially the Mexico side & there are some really good fish over in Mexico, if you know where to go

Make sure you are totally legal. From fish license to a noise making device on the boat, you will get checked. Been there twice, and was checked both times. The Wardens are very friendly, at least the ones I came in contact with. Enjoy!

Cranking chartreuse colors on rocks on points leading into major spawning pockets.

When that pattern is working on Falcon, it can be very memorable

This time of year, If I could take three lures
--chartreuse crankbaits--some that dive 12ft, some that dive 16-18ft, and some that go 20+

--5 and 6 inch senkos whatever color you have the most confidence in and some chartreuse spike it

--1/2 oz and 3/4 oz lipless--orange belly, red and black back
