I have an itch to try Choke Canyon. Before I make the 1.5 hour drive, what's the fishing like?

I was camping with the family down there last wk/end. Its come up a lot, Caliham had 30 to 40 trailers and south shore about a dozen on Sat. I bank fished a little but the lake is looking really good.
Side note, first time I had noticed the Damm is actually being operated by The City of Corpus Christi. I knew they had obtained Mathis Lake for back up water for 5he city, I guess it was only natural to get Chokes Damm operations as well to insure keeping Mathis Full.

Fished it January 4th and 5th. Had not been on the lake in several years. Nice weather, fishing not so much. That is my excuse and I am sticking with it.

From what I hear, the main lake is a bit slow. As long as I can remember, the dam has been operated by Lake CC.

The fishing is very slow right now. Talked with several people I know and they fished two days for two fish.

Id say to go up the river, but the white bass fisherman have it a PITA now. Too skinny to navigate when they are trolling back & forth.
