Lake Fork Anglers Hard Core (Major League Fishing format) is pretty cool getting to count every fish you catch.
As described below section 1 is all of Big Caney, Section 2 is from where section 1 ends and goes north to the FM 515 West bridge. Section 3 is everything from the 515 w bridge north.
Like the real TV show every fish over 10" counts. You must catch 6 LB + in one of the qualifying, and fish at least 6 tournaments to move into the semi-final. We set it low so most of our members would make to the second level. But there is three ways to qualify.
Today, Jan.10th, we fished section 1. It started out about 48 degrees and went up to 50. Water temps had dropped 5 degrees from yesterday.
Registration is now over at 7:45 AM and fishing starts at 8 AM.
The winners catching all of their fish using swimbaits, drop shots, bladed jigs and rattle traps. Most of todays bass were caught in 5 feet or less.
Boaters:
First place went to Bob Roberts of Longview with 15.41 lb. on 4 fish with a lunker of 6.85 lb. on a rattle trap. Second place went to Bill Ailes of Sulphur Springs with 1 bass for 7.95 which is THE boater lunker on a chatter bait. Third place went to Gary Pardini of Tyler with 3 fish for 7.13 anchored by a 3.23 lunker. Fourth place went to Galen Smith of Alba with 2 bass for 5.51 with a 2.25 lunker. Fifth place went to Rick Green of Missouri with 1 bass for 3.39. anchored by a 2.74 lunker.
Co-Anglers
First place went to Charlie Arnold of Lake Fork with 1 bass for 1.92 with THE co-angler lunker of 1.92 lb. on a rattle trap. Second place went to Third place went to Fourth place went to . Fifth place went to
16 Total fish were caught today on what most thought of as a real tough day with 14 skunks.
For info on fishing this tournament and others put on by the Lake Fork Anglers contact me at sjbasser@aol.com or PM me on here. We have openings for both boaters and co-anglers right now. This is a club that fishes only on Thursday daytime. Dues are $5 a year. The money winners explain their techniques and baits for the benefit of the other members at the weighin.
All of our tournaments are priced for seniors as follows. $15 entry Payback of $12. Optional lunker pool 100% payback of $5. Optional 100% payback side pot for $10 per person.
In addition to this format that we call "Hard Core" we also fish our regular every other Thursday tournament all at Lake Fork on a draw style fishing. All of our tournaments "paper" the bass and slot fish count.
If you are as "Hard Core" as some of us you can fish 48 Thursdays a year like we do. And one Fridays too. And then Opens on the weekend. But you only really have to fish 8 regular LFA tournaments to maintain membership.
Hey we are seniors and we are supposed to be doing something to keep us healthy and our minds sharp and get some vitamin D. LOL At least that is what you need to tell your wife. _______________[/u]
