Thanks for those photos. I have never seen the water over flow on 141, that's cool to see.

Every time I have seen this creek flood like this in December the white bass spawn up this creek has been crazy good. I'm getting excited about this years run....

Cool photos, Greenyak. I would say the creeks are flooded. Should be some good fishing in January/February. Can't wait.

Gonna be a goodern this year...I want to explore Nails a bit more this year. For the last 20+ years it has been all Yegua/Newmans, but with the old campsites closed out there for a while, been camping at Birch or Nails SPs. How far can you hike up Nails Creek from the park? Is it better to go upstream and hike down? WE dont mind a good hike...almost prefer it!

Nails and Cedar are awesome a few days after a good rise, the whites run up them good. But it is one of those hit or miss things, you have to be there when they are there because when the creek slows down they head back towards the lake.

We received another half inch last night and I still have water sitting on the surface in my yard. At least the creek has a good flow and should be for weeks to come.

Nails is great for hiking, however I recommend walking in from the WMA parking lot off of CR125 instead of the park. You will do more fishing and less walking this way. Fishing wise, I would lower your expectations a bit from the Yegua. It is a great creek for catching large crappie, but for white bass the Yegua is far superior.

I always walk downstream of CR125, but if you head upstream from there remember to wear hunter's orange.

Gotcha! I will obv have to wait and see what the water allows but we are going up to camp for a couple days at the end of January. We, my buddy and BIL and myself, missed the run last year by a week and just got poured on the whole time! Redemption year...gonna be epic! fish
I would rather target crappie and have never really got into em thick in the Yegua, so if the opportunity presents itself I will head down Nails and hammer down w a slip bobber jig rig...can’t wait!

My fishing in 2019 is worse so far. I went to nails today. A few ppl were there and caught sporatic white bass (small ones). I was not one of them. They were all downstream, whereas I went upstream. My highlight of the day was learning that I had to have a orange vest AND cap. I did not know that. Hopefully things will improve when my next day off hits in about 3 weeks. Water was high, still a little dirty.

Hmmm, I wonder if I have been in the wrong places fishing without orange on as well?

Thanks for the report!

Don't let it get you down. Nails creek can be challenging even in good conditions and the conditions you described are far from ideal. I've never had much luck fishing these creeks when the water is high and muddy. Best to wait until things settle down a bit. Hope your next trip goes better.

I have water standing all over my yard this morning. With the ground saturated it doesn't take much to get these creeks up and flowing strong again. But for the most this run off is clear water so it will help clear up the water in these creeks.
