Thomas has not got much rain. They are pulling water for frac'ing. There was one water transfer line over by the pump station last time I was there and a friend said they threw another in over there as well.

One dink off the damn by the eq channel. Water is clearing up some, about 5 visibility. I think the bass are still shocked from the lake gaining 35 of water. 10x the water and just as few fish so its going to be interesting.

Thanks for the info. That makes sense. Probably going to try to fish it in a few weeks. The good news is that it should be a great spawn!!

That ticks me off! They need to let it fill for sure! I mean we still have amazing days out there and no bass from any other lake pull as hard as those bass hands down!

Why does the water data show buttes has dropped 2 feet? Looking at it now, it doesn't show a drop. Also I was out there today, definitely didn't drop. May have been a glitch earlier in the day. It was doing that with Ivie last.

Yea it got corrected. It was a glitch that all the websites were showing. Stayed that way for a few hours then went back to normal. Was a little worried.

There was one water transfer line over by the pump station last time I was there and a friend said they threw another in over there as well. Over the last week Thomas has dropped an average of 61 acre ft per day. That is close to 20,000,000 gallons or almost 4,000 truck loads of water a day. You think they are removing anywhere near that every day? It is a drop in the bucket and benefits the economy.

If they really are using the lake water for a frac, that so dumb and wasteful. There is no reason companies should pull water from the cycle and forever condemn it and pump it down a well never to be seen again

You think they are removing anywhere near that every day? It is a drop in the bucket and benefits the economy. You are correct they do not use that in a single day, but a frac can use upwards of 200,000+ BBLs of water (8-10 million gallons) if it is a big frac, which not many folks are doing small stage counts anymore in these extended laterals. Also, the amount of water that evaporates off a lake is likely greater than what they use in a single day, I have no sources on this, just what I have been told, evaporation and what they pull for the surrounding areas are likely the greater contributor to dropping water levels. I wish that lake would fill all the way back up, but it has many things working against it.

Amazing that Ivie is still gaining water very slowly. Shows it to be at 20.14 this morning.
