Lure Report. . .

Water is dropping about 6" a day right now. . . .water is stained, but fishable (at least where I've been).

Topwater is still happening, but only for about 30min first thing in morning and again 30min just before dark. Been throwing 8" gray/black red-fins and black/silver pencil poppers. If you have a healthy heart, try reeling one of those big redfins just fast enough to make a big V in the water as it wobbles. . . . those fish HATE it and will prove it with some of the most awesome blow-ups!

Once the topwater quits in the morning, and/or before it starts in the evenings, been fishing the backs of creeks on OK side from Rabbi to Wahita Pt, and from Burns Run up to WW in about 10-12 fow. I've done best slow rolling spiked cohos on 1oz or 3/4oz heads. Pay attention to electronics and try to ignore the birds. . . .as you cruise around that shallow water, you'll see the fish (usually on the bottom), and you want to keep your bait just a foot or two off bottom. If you don't let em sink, you'll catch dinks. . . keep em close to the bottom and you won't catch many under 20". Average fish have been 3-8lb, with the occasional 12-16lb class mixed in.

Over the last couple weeks, my experience has been chasing birds in anything over 15'-20' deep will get you all the dinks you want with a few box fish mixed in. If you do some driving around and checking main lake creeks (and adjacent points/flats), you'll find the good ones. As usual, run-and-gun is the name of the game. . . . if you're looking for topwater and you've made 8-10 casts without a blow-up, you've been there too long. Same with the plastics. . . . . if you make a drift without a fish or a bite, keep moving. . .don't try to force it.

-Good luck and Tight Lines

Anyone can catch a lot of fish when they're hungry . . . . My favorite days are the ones where the fish don't want to eat, but I make 'em do it anyway.

hahaha. . . . I'm not a guide. . . just an obsessive/compulsive.

I took a week of vacation just to stay home and fish all week, so I was fortunate enough to fish both morning and afternoon shifts for 6 days straight....thought I'd pass along what was working.

Which ramp are you using? I spoke to the Corps yesterday and they said all the Corps run ramps were closed.

Thanks

I'm fortunate enough to have access to private ramp out on peninsula . . .not sure which public access ramps are open.

Pretty sure people are launching at Highport, though.

Will be there Tuesday through Friday assuming the weather holds out.
Will be with Striper Express Tues/Wed, both of my brothers are flying in today.
Thur/Fri my brothers and I will be with Robert and his son Kent.
I have no expectations of how we might do, just hope the birds will help us.
