It has been a while since I worked in a corporate office. Do employees still get smoke breaks?

Smokers pizz me off. I work with two smokers. They spend at least 40 minutes a day on smoke break on top of their 30 minute lunch. So that is 40 x 5 days = 200 minutes a week (3 hrs & 20 minutes a week). But if I ask to take off a couple of hours early, they deduct it from vacation / time off. Total BS. Now I'm even more pizzed.

Not official ones at my office, but its allowed whenever as long as its not abused. Think were down to like 3 smokers (including vaping) from 30-40 smokers when I first started there 15 years ago.

What a maroon!

I have contemplated long and hard banning smoking at my facility. I'd say about 40% of the hourly employees smoke and 15% of the salaried employees. Folks can only light up in a designated area outside. Hourly folks can only do so on designated breaks. Salaried folks work on the honor system. Always amazes me how dedicated people are. It'll be 100 degrees in the summer and they are outside smoking. -15 in the winter, out there smoking. I think if they smoke they have to pay like an extra 1200 bucks a year in insurance costs on top of the what it costs to buy cigarettes! Expensive hobby.
