Is there an award for some one fishing 4 days in a row in Flat Creek? I would like to except that award at the next awards ceremony. Lake is low about 2-3 feet Travel into this area is at best dangerous! I have fished there for over 40 years, and still there is not a good way in or out. Years ago I had a friend Howard May who worked at Kelly Springfield with me, who could run Flat creek at wide open Throttle. Once there were trails but over the years it is best to say 'go some where else on Palestine" The fishing is tough, No grass that I have found, only petrified stumps. WAY back in the very back there might be some grass but I aint going back there, only Big Foot an a Chupacabra live back there. I fish some areas that I marked on my GPS when the lake was really low. I did it from my living room on my computer. All were marked on an SD card and entered into my Humminbirds.
Only fishing information that I can tell you about FLAT Creek is be sure you insurance is up to date. I have caught fish back there on worm in Plum and black blue. Depth has been about 8-10 feet, and always near a STUMP>! I have thrown crank baits, blue/chartreuse and shad color. Even worked a Chatter bait around in there.
Today I was there again on my way out when my Xpress got stopped on top of a STUMP.. I tried and tried to get it off that STUMP. I looked and it was WAY over my head. I thought who can I call...? All the guys I know that are off today are older than me.. and not sure any of them would come into FLAT creek for a rescue attempt. Finally after breaking a paddle and using my transom saver I got off that STUMP. YES I did mark it on my GPS
So if you plan on fishing Palestine anytime soon and you decide to fish FLAT creek...call your friends and have a HELICOPER on stand by... wild bill

I fished Flat Creek in my partner's boat in about 2009. We basically ran aground and couldn't get loose going any direction. He hammered on his 250 and finally we came loose. When I looked behind us a sheet of plywood that looked like it was part of an old duck blind shot out from under the boat. Not long after that he had to rebuild his motor.
He told me that was the second time for him in Flat, that on his previous trip he tore a hole in his hull. He said he would never go back and I agreed.
Two years ago I decided to give it another shot. Even idling trimmed up about as high as I could go I hit two or three petrified stumps that stopped my motor. A couple of weeks later my lower unit disintegrated.
I'm done with Flat Creek, at least the back of it. I don't care if 8 pounders are jumping in the boat, I'm not going.

I fished there yesterday, stuck close to the ramp side of the bank for two miles. Got hit by winds and rain three times, once while trying to get off a stump. Couldn't believe how low it was and just started trying to get a better idea of what held fish in my usual spots since they were all out of the water. ALL the reeds are out of the water... never found any grass. Couldn't even make it through in kayak to the other side here.

wild bill I stayed until I got the skunk off away from the bank. Had to resort to throwing a damn weightless fluke.

Heck I live on flat creek and still cant figure out how to get to where the fish are. fished for 4 days and only caught 4 10 in bass. very shallow and hard to fish. I am sure my boat is going to need some doctoring this winter lol!

Been there twice in championships, it helped us win both times. Partners had extensive fiberglass work each time...

He found big fish in Kickapoo. Just a ploy to send everyone deep in the stumps to get an insurance claim. Rofl.

I've fished Flat for years. Yep, it's stumpy....yep, you'll get stuck if you're in a hurry. Use restraint and a light touch on the hot foot. Fishing partner of mine put a 10.25 pounder in the boat 3 years ago on a big spinnerbait. Fish was a beast. Released after pics and weighing.

i spent an hour one day going in flat creek... made it to the island... was so frustrated by that point I fished about 20 minutes, idled an hour back out and went home. i was getting stuck on timber every 10 feet. ugh. I have heard there is a jeep trail down the middle, but I dont believe it after studying aerial photos.

I usually launch at the 314 bridge and paddle in down the creek. I haven't been in about 6 months so I'm not sure if it's even possible right now
