Anybody ever tried them? The look odd, but the consensus is they almost never snag up even in timber. A lot of tournament river fisherman up north seem to use them. Pretty easy to make yourself. I think Im going to make up a few and try them. I broke off 4 lines last night with no rolls and Santee cooper rigs. Always so frustrating.

Have not tried them but have a lot less hang ups since I switched to pencil weights for drifting. Using a 3 oz on my long lines and 1.5 oz on my planer boards.

They work pretty good . I meet Larry Muse a couple years ago at a Lake Livingston benefit tournament and got some in a raffle. Larry said he makes some that are 3ft long for heavy timber . They have 4 oz. of lead shot in them are pretty simple to make with clear tubing and epoxy.

That is 90% of my drifting weights. I use a few other kind I have made but the tubing style is my favorite. I use bb's in mine. Easier to come by and cheap.

Im gunna make up 10 or so and give them a shot. They arent the cheapest sinker, but if I break off 3 times less often, I come out ahead.

I drift very, very little. However, I have considered making a few for the few times I do drift. I saw an easy way of making some on FB with barrel swivel, mono, 1/4 oz egg weights, beads, and heat shrink.

The draggin tails are very different from regular drift weighs. They are a 30 piece of plastic tubing filled halfway with birdshot or bbs. That half sinks, the other half floats up over snags.

But my main question is, do you not need the front half to be empty so that it floats? Also, yours seems wider than the ones Ive seen online and less flexible. Im guessing they work wel for you though or you wouldnt be using them.

Oh wait. Thats a regular sheet of paper? My perspective was off. I thought that was a poster board and a 1 tube.

This is for fallen timber in rivers or standing timber in lakes?? I can see how they would be good for fallen timber or stump fields but I dont think they would help much for these big ol sunken multi branched Bois De Arc trees on my lake. Be awesome if I could drift the submerged forest on Lake Lewisville.
