I have a real good buddy that is a PE (BS & MS Civil Engineering Texas A&M). He hates/loves it when things like that collapse happen, it intrigues him. But he always begins his conversation with 'I didn't design or build that'

they get pushed to the side in a hurry & let the pro's finish the project

Those precast panels weren�t poured in 3 weeks, if they were, the GC found a giant precast plant. And that doesn�t take the time required for shop drawings from the precast plant. I also highly doubt any topping slabs have been poured, nor has any electrical, security or fire alarm been ran. (The branch conduit is typically run in the topping slab)

Hey Der Vanderbeek, how was the archaeological site this summer? Always interested to see what y'all dig up

They had it shut down this year, the archaeologists had too many other projects going on. They plan to get back in there hopefully next summer.

I can�t wait until I�m on one of your jobsites, Reid. It�s gonna be awesome.

Butch, none of us were arguing that pre cast garages are not done. But you�re building what looks like a pedal stool style low end apartment complex. Those are notorious for doing things as cheap as possible. If you�re building high end high rises, airports, high rise multi family, you�re probably not going pre cast. There is a number of reasons one being you need more wall support. So you can�t get an open natural light design from pre cast like you can a poured slab. As RO said you�ve still got tons of stuff to surface mount now like all your electrical, lighting, life safety. A high end architect is going to want all that in the slab, which you can�t typically do with pre cast.

Bottom line both ways have their places. Low end you�re usually going pre cast. High end you�re going to pour in place. Luckily there�s room in the market for both of us.

And as a disclaimer, I�m in the development side, not construction.
