I hear the thought that the family wants peace when they pass by the area, but what about the other 10,000 people that pass through the same area who will now have to view this momento of death? Maybe your having a great morning, feeling good, no negativity, then you pull up to a stop light and get to look at teddy bears and writings about gone to soon and we love you ect on a memorial with pics of a 12 year old girl. Now your good mood just changed to sorrow or empathy for someones loss or switched your thoughts over to perhaps someone you lost in your life.. on one hand I feel selfish for not really wanting to see the memorials, but on the other hand are the people forcing the rest of the general public to look at this every day for their own peace of mind really the selfish ones? I know I'm teetering on being a total inconsiderate Richard here... so sorry if I am offending anyone, just been on my mind.

I pass a couple of them on my way to and from work. They really don't bother me.

I saw one on hwy 90 outside of Brackettville this weekend with a huge USBP badge. Not sure if a border patrolman was killed in the line of duty there or what happened. Never seen one like that before.

They are a little ironic to me. You put something up to remember your loved one who died on the highway. But the very memorial you put up is now a distraction to others on the road, in effect making it more likely other people will die on the very same spot.

They don't bother me but I really don't feel strongly one way or the other.

You mean distract drivers from working their phones, eating food, putting on makeup, changing music, messing with kids, playing with their dog and typing on their laptop?

Not a fan. At some point in time the roads will be lined with them if the trend continues.

My wife and two daughters were killed by a drunk driver in a head on accident. His family said he had several DUI's in the past and could not control his alcohol and drug addiction demons. A big piece of me died with them. I understand why they do the memorials.

There's probably not another person on here that can feel what you do. Grieve however you want, who are we to tell you.

We didn't put one up at the RR crossing where my in-laws were killed but we pass by the spot everyday and we still think about them everyday.
