Hello all,
I will be down from Michigan for the Sportsmans channel outdoor fest and I am looking for some places in the area to wet a line. Preferably somewhere where I can fish from the bank or maybe put a kayak in. I'm familiar with bass fishing but if there is a good saltwater place I'm willing to try that as well. Thanks in advance for your help.
Anyone else going to the show? I'll be there working for ProNav Marine and curious to see what other booths I should visit!
Thank you!!!!!

There is great wading and kayaking fishing within and hour or 2 of Houston both on the Gulf and in the bays. If you have access to a kayak you can access Galveston Bay from a large number of sites. The reds are still in the marshes on both the South shore and the North shore. If you are game for some night fishing then the Causeway to Galveston with it's lights holds great amounts of bait and trout feeding on the bait. I can give you a list of the baits/lures we usually throw if you need the information. Just be aware there is a lot of current and the bridge area can be dangerous for the unwary. Tight lines! 1Fisher77316 Mike (281) 468-4801

see https://tpwd.texas.gov/publications/pwdpubs/media/pwd_br_k0700_1185.pdf. It presents 26 locations in the Houston area, both fresh and saltwater fishing. Houston area has several thousand community ponds, many of which contain fish. These ponds are ideal for a quick outing, but most are private. Befriending a resident with access to a local private pond may be your best option for a quick outing. Be aware that rush hour traffic can add upwards of 1-hour to your travel time, depending on distance. Texas has freshwater, saltwater and combination fishing licenses. 17-years and older are required to have a fishing license to fish public waters. Out of State licenses are available.
