With the super hot temperatures we have been having this summer myself and good friend Jeff fished Jeff's dock under the lights this past Thursday night. We fished from 9pm till a little after 3am. We floated a green light from the dock. It took about an hour and there were plenty of minnows swimming under the light. About twenty minutes later we started seeing the crappie followed by some bass. We had are first crappie two minutes later. The bite was slow but picked up around 11p. The bite slowed down after 1am and shut down just after 2am. We caught 19 keeper crappie and kept 10. Six bass in the 3 to 8 pound range. (Biggest 8.2 lbs) All bass released. 10 Bluegill kept em all. Rounding out the catch were a couple of nice Rios and a few nice Channel Cat. Released the Rios and kept the channels. We caught about 40 fish total. Fish were suspended in 2 to 7 feet of water hanging close to a dock. The dock is in 12 feet of water. Ultralight spinning gear was used. Small crank baits,Chartreuse/Black got the best results. Soft plastics,Chartreuse/Black also got some nice results. Love fishing under the lights at night. It by far beats fishing in the HEAT!

That is some huge bass!!! Were the bluegill and rios big? That's the way to do it. Set out a light and let them come to you. No chasing around looking for them. Sounds like a great night.

Nice post Curtis. Usually that's how it has worked for me during my night fishing. First the Crappie show up followed by the bass! Again nice post.
