For yous guys with a lot of experience with these rods...
Considering cost, sensitivity, overall execution - which of these spinning outfits do you feel present the best value and why?
Value is a relative term, obviously.
If you can't find em wind em.

The IMX is the workhorse of the Loomis line. Great rod for the money. If you break this rod it is something you did to cause it. I have broken two in 30 years and both of them were my fault.
The GLX is a step up and is noticeably lighter and more sensitive. Note: The new line of GLX is a step up from the previous generation GLX rods.
The NRX is supposed to be better but I have a hard time telling the diff between it and the GLX as far as performance.

The very first "expensive" rod I ever purchased was the original IMX from Barlows when they first came out. About 3 times the price of most of the rods I owned at that time. But what a difference. Weight, sensitivity...all the things you'd ever want in a rod. My worm/jig fishing got considerably better quick. However in the last 10 years or so I think many of the rod makers have closed the gap on Loomis. The choices we have now in the $100 - $200 range are incredible. They're great rods, but I just can't justify paying 2-4 times as much for, in my opinion, such a narrow gap of performance. Now if I had unlimited funds...see Ken A for such a bankroll... (Sorry Ken, couldn't help take a little jab at ya! LOL!)...well that dream has come and gone!

I have used all of them and I have to agree with Ken. For my money the GLX is my go to rod and they will last a long time given the proper care. Light, sensitive, plenty of backbone, and good durability.

There are several rods on the market now under $200 that are equivalent to the IMX rods from Loomis. As a matter of fact I like the new Shimano Expride as well or better than the Loomis IMX. It is very close to the GLX for less money. Most of you probably know Shimano bought Loomis in 1995. As far as the unlimited funds you speak of, my FIVE KIDS & new grandson make sure they are now LIMITED!!

Overall I would say the IMX pro is the best bang for the buck. Just my opinion.

You can add carbon fiber grips and a top of line Fuji guide train to a Rainshadow Eternity series blank and have much more rod for the money.
Build it yourself or find a local builder. My entire arsenal is hand built by me with the components of my choosing placed to my specifications on the blank. You also get the piece of mind that the blank is properly spined instead of just slapped together in a factory overseas.
Gary Loomis now run North Fork Composites and has a massive like of blanks to choose from. I have built a few of his blanks but refuse to ever by from him again. He is based in Washington State I think or Oregon and charges 30 dollars for shipping and also charges an "excise" tax of 10 dollars per blank. No thanks
