The plan today was to take my truck, boat, and the Sentra to Tyler ahead of next weeks impending move. It was supposed to be a 5 hour round trip. I drove the truck and the boat, my two oldest sons were behind me in the Sentra, and my wife was behind them. Just after Canton, I pulled into the rest stop figuring the kids would want a pit stop before we got to Tyler. I got out and checked the boat. When I pull the trailer and stop, the first thing I always do is feel the hubs to see how warm they are. When I saw the first hub, I noticed the dang bearing buddy was missing. I walked to the other side and noticed it was off too. Dang. I went back to the first one I look at and investigated it more closely. The bearings were gone and the spindle was riding on the hub! The bearing on the other side were not as bad, but were still not good. I jacked up the trailer and pulled the worst hub off and was shocked that it was so jacked up, I didnt even have to remove the lug nuts to get the wheel off. We drove to Tractor Supply and bought two new hubs, but 8 wasnt able to get one of the bearings off the spindle because it had pretty much welded to the spindle. A tow truck took the boat the next 30miles to Tyler.

How that wheel didnt come off while driving down I20 I will never know. That could have ended so very bad.

The painful part was while I was sitting at the rest area waiting for the tow truck, our realtor called and said the close on our house had to be pushed back two more weeks. bang

Thanks! I was think Id be back in Tyler for good next Saturday, now it will be in July. It will have to sit there and wait until I get settled. More than likely, I will need a whole new axle since my spindles are not removable.

Glad it worked out for you, even if you had to get a tow truck to make the final leg.

I burned up a set of bearings one night coming back from a tournament. It's amazing how it will change you into being a Bearing watcher. Bearing buddies & always greasing the trailer from then on, every 500 miles.

What kind of boat do you have?

Don't go buy an axle before you call.

God loves you just as much as anybody else!!

Jesus offered His life as a gift for you. Please accept it!

Wheels launching into oncoming traffic, boat swaying into another vehicle, etc....

IMHO buddy bearing caps are a false sense of security.
