just took a look at this ridiculously easy 9 hole course. No rough, huge fairways, gigantic greens. it will be driver, 60 dg wedge on every hole. All par 5s will be on in 2 and a record number of eagles. winner might hit -30 under. just gonna leave this here, its gonna take -25 or better to win this. Leader is already at -15. lots of guys -10. pitch and put course, sure its hard for a hacker but unless you tighten the fairways and grow the rough its easy and they love it. yep they are killing it i heard a prediction of 30 under

They lieterally just said on the TV coverage that the course was playing tougher and scoring average is up today because of the wind.

Well, the wind will howl tomorrow. I am planning on fishing. The wind blows excessively when I go fishing.

Got to see some of this last night. Doesnt look very appealing on TV. Why make something ugly on purpose? I dont like the trend of these courses especially in the U S Open. I want to see grass that has been fertilized, watered and groomed.

It's built on top of an illegal landfill that has been there for like 50 years. I worked at the fire station that is first due in that area for 9 years, back in the 90's.
That dump burned for around a year back in the mid 90's. It took lots of hours and millions of dollars to put it out.
Lord knows what kind of toxins are buried under that course...

They are not allowed to plant any trees because it's roots will break the cap of that landfill. Also, they expect the greens to shift and crack, that is what land on top of a cap does, it moves.
I'd suggest leaving the tee's in the ground too.(golfers know what I'm talking about)

It is built on top of a landfill. The course architects/designers (Crenshaw/Coors) werent able to use any of their usual earth moving equipment when building the course (so as not to disrupt the cap)
They also had lengthy issues with regulations and the Dallas city counsel
Coors is on record that the process was a complete beating and hed never do a project like that again

The story of the day was wind. Seemed like thats what the announcers were talking about and the players were asked about it and said it played a big factor.
