I heard from a good source that may 18 the new 250 four stroke can be ordered. With that happening, no more 250 pro xs can be ordered and warranty work could take much longer on them moving forward. Has anyone tried ordering a 250 pro xs lately? Or even just a power head? I can't imagine how many 250's are out there still under warranty.

mercury has always been good on their warranty service I doubt much will change on that the big difference after the new motors are out for a while the market value on the pro xs s that have fallen out of the warranty period will most likely go down in value.

Good riddens to the compressor issues! Still supposed to have a 2 stroke 250 in the racing division though. New motor is a V8. eeks

Which motor are you referring to? The only V8 outboard on the market currently is the Yamaha four-stroke 350.

Not surprised. Yamaha done it years ago because they knew it was going to happen with the emissions and everything.

Yes. Just had to get a new power head about a month ago on a 2018 Pro XS on my Phoenix. Lets just say it took "a while" to get it from Merc.

Some debate on the platform of the new motor, some say 4 stroke and some stories say its 2 stroke. I have the question asked to a merc dealer to try and get the truth. Id think 4 stroke, but doesnt sound so certain.

Mercury will have to do something. Australia is about to pass new emissions on outboards and it is the toughest. The only motor
that will pass is the Evinrude G2

This is correct, no more complete Pro XS engines. As far as any warranty work taking longer, I don't think you'll see any difference. You can still get powerheads for a Merc 225 EFI, easy. I wouldn't worry about getting parts and having work done on the Pro XS platforms. I'm gonna give them at least a year or two with the new 250F before I hang one on my rig, but I'm looking forward to seeing what they can do to compete with the other platforms.

They're most definitely 4 strokes.

It's definitely a 4 stroke and can be ordered mid May. I heard power heads for pro xs warranty work will be built as needed

It's a 4.6 liter V8 250 hp. It's going to be a monster.

Wonder if this is going to be across the board or if they will only stop manufacturing the two stroke in the 200 plus horsepower?
