I'll take Trump 1000 times over Hillary, but there are times I wish he wouldn't tweet like a 15 year old who just had his first beer.

He is trying to keep us out of a war with Russia. Russian troops and equipment are embedded with Assad. He is giving Putin a chance to pull out of Syria, and at the same time declaring his actions are against Syria and not Russia.

Big difference between that and telling your muslim brothers to go hide in their caves for a few weeks.

I'm not going to speculate on the particular instance you're referring to.

But in general, 'calling your shot' can sometimes be an effective deterrent. "I'm gonna sue your company" can often bring about a desired settlement in a civil problem. In warfare, letting the enemy know that they're going to get hit can sometimes get them to concede without loss of life for either side (assuming that your threat is credible).

This goes back to Teddy Roosevelt thinking. We got a big stick and we're willing to use it.
