I am looking at the lowrance elite 5 with touchscreen or the hummingbird helix 5 chirp SI G2
if the down inmage and side image would be of much help in shsllow bays or for crappie and bream fishing . I have 17 foot center console express with a 50 tlr.
If these added features would not be worth the dollsrs please advise and also advise on Lowrance vs hummingbird

Humminbird from David Goodson, Shut Up and Fish here on the TFF. I bought a hummingbird, because I could never figure out how to work my buddys Lowrance...whichever one is easiest for you to use...is the correct answer...use David, wont get a better deal, or better service anywhere you look...he started out just helping guys get electronics purchased inexpensively and putting stuff together in his garage or talking you through the installation via the phone, just to be helpful...once the word got out...he had to turn it into a full fledged business, and he is still the same way, or was last time I talked to him...

I have the Helix 5 SI gps and love it. I am looking to sell it and go to the Helix 7 or 9. Humminbird is real user friendly and some of the others are a little harder for some. I wanted something that everyone in the family could understand.

Lowrance is hands down better Thats why everyone is selling their Lowrance in the classifieds to get the Mega imaging. The fact is Humminbird is leading the pack with their Mega imaging. The images are by far better than anything on the market today and I dont even run Humminbird.

if you don't care about side imaging -- get Dragonfly. If you do -- go for largest screen you can afford

Nice try though.

Lowrance is hands down better UHM, not. I run 2 Lowrance Gen 3 touchscreens and a Helix and 1197 on my boat. I like both brands but the Humminbirds are much easier to use. No way Lowrance is "hands down" better.
